Discouragement

Don’t we all just get there sometimes?

I had breakfast this morning with my dear  Traci after a rough night with Darcy. Nights like those, when your kids just won’t let you sleep…and it seems for no good reason, get me down. I feel like I can’t figure something out. Like something is broken and I can’t fix it. So I woke up (not that I really ever went to sleep) discouraged.

Traci and I had a great time talking about different things that are discouraging in our lives right now. I know that doesn’t really sound like a “great time,” but it served as a time for us to encourage one another. I came home and pulled out my trusty little book, “God’s Promises for Your Every Need” and looked up some verses on feeling discouraged. Here ya go!

Philippians 4:6-8:

6do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

John 14:1:

Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

John 14:27:

27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Galatians 6:9:

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Psalm 31:24

Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord.

Those are just a few, but may they encourage you today!
